Hockey Announces 2022-23 Schedule

Apr 11, 2022

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Sun Devil Hockey released its 2022-2023 schedule for the inaugural season at the new Multi-Purpose Arena on Monday morning. The schedule boasts a record 24 home games, including the return of the Desert Hockey Classic tournament.

The 39-game slate includes 12 home series, seven away series, and an appearance in the 2022 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game. ASU hosts two of the 2022 NCAA Frozen Four teams, Minnesota and Minnesota State, and travels to the 2022 National Champions, University of Denver.

The season kicks off with a two-week road trip to Minnesota from Oct.1-8 where ASU faces the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs and Bemidji State Beavers. The Sun Devils return to the desert and drop the puck for the first time at the Multi-Purpose Arena on Oct. 14 in their home opener against Colgate. ASU continues the home stand with a series versus Colorado College on Oct. 21-22. ASU split both road series with the Raiders and Tigers last season.

The Sun Devils close out October in Sin City where they face the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in the 2022 U.S Hockey Hall of Fame Game on Oct. 29 at T-Mobile Arena. This will be the first time the two programs meet and the second time ASU plays at T-Mobile Arena, the home of the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights.

ASU's schedule includes two series with the newly reinstated Alaska-Anchorage, first in Tempe on Nov. 11-12 and then away on Mar. 3-4. Following the first series with UAA, the road warriors will travel to Potsdam, NY to take on Clarkson. ASU went 2-0 against the then-No. 18 Golden Knights last season.

NCAA Frozen Four contender, the Minnesota Gophers, make a Thanksgiving weekend trip out to Tempe on Nov. 25-26.

Before the holiday break, ASU spends two weeks on the road with the first stop in the Mile High City to play the 2022 national champions, Denver Pioneers on Dec. 2-3. The team continues the road schedule and heads out east looking to extend their all-time 3-0 record against the New Hampshire Wildcats on Dec. 9-10.

ASU concludes the first half of the schedule in Tempe with a series against Boston College on Dec. 30-31. The last meeting between the two teams was in 2019 with the Sun Devils securing the series sweep.

To kick off the new year, ASU hosts the Desert Classic at the new Multi-Purpose Arena on Jan. 6-7. Boston University, Air Force, and Michigan Tech are participants in the tournament. For the rest of January, the Sun Devils will be at home to face national runner-up Minnesota State, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and St. Thomas in a three-week homestead.

For the second season in a row ASU will have a home and away series with Alaska Fairbanks, the first being away on Feb. 3-4 and home on Feb. 24-25. Sandwiched in between the UAF series, ASU meets Lindenwood, the NCAA's newest Division I hockey program, on Feb. 17-18.

ASU hosts the final series of the inaugural season at the Multi-Purpose Arena on Mar. 10-11 against the Long Island Sharks for the second time in program history. ASU swept the Sharks to end the Oceanside Ice Arena era at the end of the 2021-22 season.
