20 Wins in 2022
FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 9 Stanford capped off its time at the TCU Invitational with wins over No. 16 Pepperdine and Missouri State Saturday morning, recording its second consecutive 20-win season for the first time in program history.
After falling to No. 2 TCU 3-2 the day before, the Cardinal came back to the courts with a purpose and cranked out a gritty win over No. 16 Pepperdine. Senior Maddie Dailey and sophomore Maya Harvey secured their seventh consecutive win as a duo on court four, while sophomore Emmy Sharp and Taylor Wilson collected the Cardinal's second match point with a three-set victory on court three. With the match on the line, senior Charlie Ekstrom and junior Maddi Kriz fought off a Waves' comeback attempt and secured the win for Stanford with a 21-11, 21-23, 15-13 win on court two.
Stanford finished its day with a 4-1 victory over Missouri State. Senior duo Dailey and Jordan McKinney kicked things off with the first match point, winning in straight sets on court four. On her birthday, freshman Camdyn Doucet alongside freshman Serena Turner earned the second match point of the day with a straight-set win on court five. Reilly and Hodel clinched the match with a two-set 21-7, 21-13 win on court one.
Stanford concludes regular season action next weekend at home, hosting the Stanford Invitational for the second time this season. The Cardinal welcome Washington, No. 12 Cal, No. 7 GCU, and Saint Mary's to The Farm April 24-25, and will honor seniors Dailey, McKinney, and Ekstrom and their incredible Stanford careers on April 25.
