Men's Tennis Takes Down UCLA on Senior Day

SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 32 Utah Utes wrapped up its regular season against the No. 53 UCLA Bruins at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The team finished the season off strong and celebrated senior Mathias Gavelin with a 4-0 victory. This was the first-ever victory for the Utes over the Bruins.

The Utes dominated doubles play. On court two, Francisco Bastias and Bruno Caula downed the Bruins duo 6-1. Soon after, Jayson Blando and senior Mathias Gavelin also defeated the competition on court three, 6-4, awarding Utah the first point. On court one, No. 33 duo Franco Capalbo and Geronimo Espin Busleiman were tied 4-4, and their match was unfinished.
 
As the match moved to singles, the Utah squad had great performances to help secure a victory. Gavelin won his final match at home on court five, defeating UCLA's Jeffrey Fradkin 6-3, 6-2 and securing the second Ute point.
 
Caula gave the Utes their third point on court four when he downed Bryce Pereira 6-3, 6-4. The match point came on court six, where Bruno Krenn took the upper hand against Stefan Leustian, winning 6-4, 6-4, and clinching the match in Utah's favor.  
 
The matches on courts one, two, and three were unfinished.
