No. 13 USC Men’s Tennis Shuts Out Stanford In Pac-12 Semis To Advance To Title Match

OJAI, CALIF. — The No. 13 USC men's tennis team goes on the hunt for its third straight Pac-12 Tournament title after scoring a semifinal shutout win over Stanford today in Ojai, Calif. Winners of the  2021 conference crown, the Trojans are looking to claim a sixth overall trophy when they square off against Washington tomorrow (April 23) at Libbey Park.

Up against the Cardinal for the fourth time this year, USC showed no mercy in hammering out the doubles point and then collecting three straight-set singles wins to lock up the ticket to the title match. USC's top guns, #5 Stefan Dostanic and Bradley Frye, dispatched Stanford's #76 Geller/Kopczynski 6-3 at the top sport before teammates Peter Makk and Lodewijk Weststrate mirrored that score in beating #19 Fery/Rotsaert on court two. 

In singles play, USC kept its foot on the gas. Bradley Frye hustled his way to a 6-2, 6-3 win on court two over #53 Max Basing to make it 2-0 Trojans, and then #117 Lodewijk Weststrate cleaned up on court five with a 6-0, 6-4 decision over Sangeet Srdihar to get USC into position. On court four, freshman Ryan Colby issued the clincher, closing down action in Ojai with his 6-4, 6-4 win over #73 Alexandre Rotsaert to make it 4-0 for the Trojans.

Tomorrow against the Huskies, USC will looking for its sixth Pac-12 Tournament title, having won it all in 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021. USC has reached the tournament final every year except 2016. This will be the first USC-Washington title match since the even began in 2012.
