Ducks Earn No. 1 Seed At Albuquerque Regional

Apr 27, 2022

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's golf team will make its 14th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance after earning the No. 1 seed in the Albuquerque Regional on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ducks have reached an NCAA Regional every year since 2008, not counting the 2019-20 season that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the program's 26th all-time NCAA Regional appearance.

One week after winning the first Pac-12 championship in program history at Eugene Country Club, the Ducks received the top seed in the 12-team field at the Albquerque Regional. Hosted by New Mexico at The Championship Course at UNM, play will begin on May 9th with the final round set for May 11th.

"Extremely excited at the opportunity to go to Albuquerque," head coach Derek Radley told Golf Channel following the selection. "We had a hunch that that might be where we go. I've been fortunate actually to be there a couple times when I was the assistant coach at Arizona, and also our assistant coach Monica Vaughn has played the course when she was in college.

"We're excited. I think something that we've really proven to be true this year is that our game is traveling, and we've had success all over the country. Excited at the opportunity to go compete in a regional championship."

The top four finishing teams in Albuquerque will advance to the NCAA Championships, set for May 20-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Oregon advanced to the NCAA Championships for the 11th time in program history last season, tying for 11th place overall at Grayhawk and finishing just two strokes shy of reaching match play. The Ducks made it to Scottsdale despite not putting up a shot at NCAA Regionals after play was cancelled due to weather in Baton Rouge, La.
