Two Tough Losses
TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 8 Stanford ended its time at the 2022 Pac-12 Championship with tough losses to both No. 3 UCLA and No. 12 California.
Stanford started the morning with a 3-0 loss to No. 3 UCLA, pushing the Cardinal into the contender's bracket for its second match of the day.
In its third matchup with No. 12 California this season, the Cardinal fought hard to keep themselves in the matchup after losing set one on courts one, two, and four. With a two-set victory on court five for Stanford and a straight-set win on court four for California, the match was tied at one point apiece. The Golden Bears scratched out a victory with tight straight-set victories on courts one and two for the overall match win, with neither California pair winning by more than two points in set two.
Stanford now awaits the NCAA selection show, slated for Saturday, April 30 at 6 PM on NCAA.com, to see if the program receives an at-large bid from the committee to compete at the 2022 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship in Gulf Shores, Ala.
