Avrit Named All-Pac-12 Second Team

SAN FRANCISCO – Owen Avrit was named to the men's golf all-Pac-12 second team, while three other Ducks earned honorable mention laurels on the conference's end-of-season awards announced Wednesday.
 
Yuki Moriyama and Nate Stember were named all-Pac-12 honorable mention, while Greyson Leach was an all-Freshman honorable mention selection.
 
Avrit, a junior from Arroyo Grande, Calif., leads the Ducks with a 71.50 stroke average. He has four top-10 finishes and six top-20 finishes in 2021-22. Avrit tied for 10th at the Pac-12 Championships at (plus-2). Earlier this spring, he had three-top 20 finishes in a row – tied for ninth at The Prestige (plus-6), tied for sixth at the Bandon Dunes Championship (even) and tied for 13th at the Duck Invitational (plus-4). In the fall, Avrit tied his career-low with a round of 64 at the Maui Jim Invitational where he also shot his tournament low (minus-10).
 
Moriyama, a sophomore Kanagawa, Japan, finished third at the Conference tournament for the second year in a row. He was in contention for the individual title for most of the final two rounds, eventually shooting a 6-under 278 to finish two strokes back of individual medalist Noah Woolsey of Washington.
 
Stember, a junior from Portland, Ore., is third on a squad with a 72.06 stroke average. He has five top-20 finishes and three top-10 finishes this year. Stember tied for 10th at the Pac-12 tournament (plus-2). He tied for fourth at the Husky Individual Invitational (minus-6). Stember was eighth at the Bandon Dunes Championship (plus-1). Of the 28 rounds he played this season, 26 have counted toward Oregon's team score.
 
Leach, from Palos Verdes, Calif., won the Husky Individual Invitational in the fall by shooting a 10-under 206. He has three top-10 finishes this season, including a tie-for-seventh at the Western Intercollegiate.
 
Oregon's destination for the 2022 NCAA postseason will be announced this afternoon.
