This will be the Cardinal's 11th overall appearance and fourth consecutive season culminating with NCAA Tournament play. Stanford has advanced from the first round twice, defeating Notre Dame in 2013 before falling to Northwestern and taking down James Madison in 2016 before falling to USC.
Stanford is one of two Pac-12 teams to make the tournament this year as the Pac-12 champions are joined by conference rival USC. ASU fell just short of making it three teams from the Pac-12 going dancing and were named one of the first four teams out.
This matchup marks the first meeting between Jacksonville and Stanford in program history, however the Cardinal do have a connection to the Dolphins.
