IRVINE, Calif. – No. 22 UCLA dropped a 8-1 decision to UC Irvine on Tuesday night at Anteater Ballpark in the final midweek contest of the season for both teams.

The Bruins (33-19) used a season-high nine pitchers in the contest. UC Irvine improved to 29-21 on the season.

Sophomore Caedon Kottinger made his UCLA debut in the contest, and had arguably the Bruins' strongest performance on the mound. The Reno, Nev. native hit a batter with one out, but retired the other three he faced en route to a zero.

Graduate first baseman Jake Palmer had a pair of base hits in his first game back in Irvine after transferring from UCI following a solid four-year career with the Anteaters. Daylen Reyes added two hits and scored a run.

UCLA wraps up its regular season schedule this weekend, traveling to Corvallis for a three-game set at No. 2 Oregon State. The series starts on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m., and will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
