USC Baseball Closes Season at No. 4 Stanford

THIS WEEK: The USC baseball team closes the 2022 season on the road this week, heading to No. 4 Stanford for a three-game series starting on Thursday.

LAST WEEK: The Trojans suffered a sweep at home against Washington, ending USC's hopes of a Pac-12 Tournament berth. The Trojans bounced back on Tuesday, taking down No. 18 UC Santa Barbara, 5-4.
 
SERIES VS. STANFORD: The Trojans lead the all-time series 222-191-2. Stanford won two-of-three in the series last season in Los Angeles.

PLAYER NOTES:

  • Rhylan Thomas is in the hunt for a Pac-12 batting title, sitting 3rd in the conference with a .366 batting average. He has recorded multiple hits in 50% of USC's games (25) and posted a team-best 15-game hitting streak earlier this season. Thomas currently has a 5-game hitting streak going and has reached base safely in each of his last 21 games. He also is the 3rd toughest player in the league to strike out, fanning just once every 12.1 at-bats. Thomas' 75 hits are already the most by a Trojan in a season since Jeremy Martinez (80) in 2016.
  • Tyresse Turner has the second best batting average on the team and 13th best in the conference at .335. His 15 stolen bases are 5th in the Pac-12.
  • Charlie Hurley's 3.36 ERA is 8th best in the Pac-12 and his 6 wins are 7th in the conference.
  • Tyler Lozano leads the team with 12 HR this year, tied for 7th most in the Pac-12. Lozano tied a USC record with 3 home runs in the opener against ASU, becoming the first player since Ricky Oropesa in 2010 to accomplish that feat.
  • Carson Lambert's 1.02 WHIP is 3rd best in the conference and 42nd in the NCAA. His 1.90 walks/9 are 5th in the Pac-12. He leads the team with 26 relief appearances this season and his 5.27 strikeout-to-walk ratio is 5th in the league. Lambert's 3.12 ERA is 6th in the Pac-12 among qualifying pitchers.
  • Matt Keating leads USC and is 7th in the Pac-12 with 7 saves this year. He's second on the team with 23 relief appearances.
