USC’s Stefan Dostanic Lined Up For NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles and Doubles Round of 32

May 23, 2022

CHAMPAIGN, ILL. — USC's Stefan Dostanic has a full day of competition ahead in the junior's first run at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. He snagged a comeback singles win in today's opening Round of 64, and he'll team back up with his trusty partner Bradley Frye tomorrow for both Trojans' debut in the NCAA Doubles draw in Champaign. Ill.

Seeded No. 7 in the NCAA Singles draw, Dostanic got his feet under him with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over #17 Florian Broska of Mississippi State in today's first round of singles play. That earns the #7 Trojans a spot in an 11:30 a.m. CT clash against Georgia's #50 Phillip Henning tomorrow in the Round of 32. Fellow Trojan Peter Makk, meanwhile, also was in the mix for NCAA Singles action today, with the #56 USC freshman going up against NCAA champ Virginia's #39 Inaki Montes de la Torre. The Cavalier captured a 6-3, 6-1 win over Makk, wrapping the freshman's first year as a Trojan with him holding an impressive 25-12 overall record — putting him behind only Dostanic for the most singles wins by a Trojan this season.

Tomorrow also marks the opening round of NCAA Doubles competition, where Dostanic and Frye are seeded 5-8. They'll take on Wake Forest's #34 Banthia/Schnaitter in a 5 p.m. CT Round of 32 matchup.
