Cal Announces 2022 Field Hockey Schedule

BERKELEY – California field hockey announced its 15-game schedule for the 2022 season Thursday, with the Golden Bears playing six home games at Underhill Field. The 2021 America East Conference semifinalists will also have its clash with Stanford air on the Pac-12 Networks.
 
Cal – coming off of a 10-7 2021 season – opens the new regular season on the road, with the Bears playing at defending MAC champion Miami (Ohio) on Aug. 26. The Bears take on Bellarmine in their home opener on Sept. 2 to start a four-game home slate that includes visits from Indiana (9/4), defending ACC champ North Carolina (9/9) and Wake Forest (9/11).
 
Head coach Shellie Onstead's team starts America East action when it travels to upstate New York to play Albany on Sept. 23. Cal hosts UC Davis on Sept. 30 in another AE match at Underhill. The Bears make their appearance on the Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Bay Area when they tangle with the Cardinal on the Farm on Oct. 14.
 
In its last home game of the regular season, Cal hosts James Madison on Oct. 23, and the Bears end the regular season with an Oct. 30 game at Vermont. The America East Championship is scheduled to take place from Nov. 3-6 on the campus of the top seed.
 
Among the Bears returning for the 2022 season are forward Kiki de Bruijne, who was named to the 2021 NFHCA All-West Region second team and America East All-Conference first team after collecting two goals, four assists and eight points; 2021 leading scorer Megan Connors, who was recently named to the U.S. U-21 national team; and goalkeeper Cato Knipping, who posted a 1.44 goals-against average in 2021.
