Jun 16, 2022

TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State softball players Bella Loomis and Yannira Acuña were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® Third Team, according to an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Fourteen of the 37 members of the Academic All-America® Division I softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school.

Loomis, a graduate senior, finished with a 4.00 GPA (Psychology) and Acuña, a senior, had a 3.64 GPA (Liberal Studies).

This past season, Acuña was named Pac-12 Player of the Week (Mar. 28th) and the 2022 Pac-12 First Team after leading the Sun Devils in doubles (19). Besides starting all 54 games in right field for the Sun Devils, she was dominant and patient at the plate as she hit 14 home runs, was walked 29 times and had 43 RBI.

Loomis, a five-year athlete, started 31 games for the Maroon and Gold at third and second base. She came up big when she needed to as Loomis hit six doubles, 16 RBI and a walk-off home run against Oregon State to conclude her collegiate career.
