USC's Eryn Cayetano, Stefan Dostanic Named to USTA Collegiate Summer Team

Jun 24, 2022

The USTA announced its 2022 Collegiate Summer Team on Thursday (June 23) with Trojan All-Americans Eryn Cayetano and Stefan Dostanic being named to the prestigious squad. USC is the only school represented on both the men's and women's roster.

The 2022 USTA Collegiate Summer Team is comprised of the 10 top American college players and is a training program designed to help America's premier college players assimilate to professional tennis in a team-oriented environment via USTA Player & Coach Development.

Each of the players was selected based on a number of criteria, including rankings, individual collegiate tournament results or Intercollegiate Tennis Association honors. Players on the team are eligible to receive a grant for travel to USTA Pro Circuit events and coaching support over the summer.

In the early goings of what would become her winningest season as a Trojan, Eryn Cayetano made a statement in winning the 2021 ITA National Fall Singles Championship, becoming the first Trojan to win the title since 2010 (Maria Sanchez). After a run to the NCAA Singles quarterfinals, Cayetano wrapped up her junior campaign with a 39-11 (.78) singles record and All-American honors. That goes along with the 2022 Pac-12 First Team accolades she received just weeks prior. Cayetano finished the season ranked No. 3 in the ITA singles rankings and held the top spot from Dec., 2021 through Feb., 2022. She led USC in singles wins with 39 on the year and wrapped up the season as part of two ranked doubles pairings.
An ITA All-American in singles and doubles during his junior season, Stefan Dostanic also was named the 2022 Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and half of the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year along with partner Bradley Frye. Having risen as high as No. 2 in the nation in singles and No. 3 in doubles during 2021-22, Dostanic was the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Singles draw. He and Frye were also seeded 5-8 in NCAA doubles. Dostanic finished out the season ranked No. 5 in the nation in singles and No. 7 in doubles. In going 39-6 overall in singles, Dostanic notched the most single-season wins by a Trojan since Steve Johnson in 2010-11. Dostanic lost just one match in straight sets, and held a 19-match win streak during his junior campaign. He went 33-12 overall in doubles, including a 24-10 mark with Frye. A native of Irvine, Calif., Dostanic also helped the Trojans win the 2022 Pac-12 Team Championship this past season.
With his first season as USC men's assistant coach under his belt, Rich Bonfiglio has been named one of two coaches accompanying the men, alongside Louisville assistant coach Mario Rincon. Vanderbilt assistant coach Hayley Carter accompanies the women this summer.
