BERKELEY – Six members of the California men's swimming & diving team earned 2021-22 Scholar All-America honors, the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced Monday, June 27.
To qualify for first-team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum grade point average of 3.50 and participated at the 2022 NCAA Championships. Second-team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the 2022 NCAA Championships or participated at a diving zone qualification meet. All criteria can be found on CSCAA.org.
Cal's six honorees are below:
- Kai Crews – Undeclared (second team)
- Tyler Kopp – Business Administration
- Colby Mefford – Undeclared
- Marcos Rico Peng – Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (second team)
- Björn Seeliger – Undeclared
- Reece Whitley – Business Administration
Reece Whitley, a 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-American and the Pac-12 Men's Swimming & Diving Scholar Athlete of the Year, led Cal's six honorees with his fourth career selection to the CSCAA Scholar All-America first team. Tyler Kopp earned his second consecutive selection to the first team, while the other four Golden Bears were first-time honorees.
