Darren Baker Selected To All-Star Futures Game

BERKELEY – Former California baseball standout and Washington Nationals prospect Darren Baker has been selected to play in the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, Major League Baseball announced Thursday on MLB Network.
 
The 23rd SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game features the top minor league prospects competing as part of All-Star Saturday.
 
Baker ('21) is slashing .264/.328/.347 with 13 doubles, one triple, one home run, 20 RBIs and 10 stolen bases in 55 games played with the Nationals' High-A Wilmington this season. A hot start to the season saw Baker hit safely in 33 of his first 39 games. In 77 total games across two minor league seasons since leaving Bear Territory, Baker is batting .283 with 20 extra-base hits, 41 runs scored, 26 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.
 
A four-year starter for the Golden Bears (2018-21), Baker was a 10th-round pick by the Nationals in the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft. He was an All-Pac-12 First Team and ABCA All-West Region Second Team selection after posting career highs in batting average (.327), runs (44), hits (73), walks (28), on-base percentage (.402) and stolen bases (28) as a senior in 2021.
 
The 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will be played at 4 p.m. PT on Saturday, July 16, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
