Hailey Schalk Places Third At CGA Women’s Stroke Play Championship

ERIE, Colo. – University of Colorado women's golfer Hailey Schalk tied for third place at the 75th Colorado Golf Association Women's Stroke Play Championship, at the Colorado National Golf Club on Thursday.
 
Schalk, a junior-to-be at Colorado, shot 2-under par, 214, at the 54-hole event to tie with Charlotte Hillary and just two strokes out of the top spot. She improved each day, rebounding from Tuesday's first round of 1-over par, 73, Schalk shot 1-under, 71, on Wednesday and finished off with a 2-under, 70 on Thursday, matching the championship's second-best round of the day.
 
An Erie native, playing on CU's home course, Schalk logged her second-straight top three CGA Stroke Play finish. She was also third in 2021, which was played at the Boulder Country Club.
 
Incoming Colorado freshman Morgan Miller tied for sixth overall at even par, 216. Miller, a native of Cedar Park, Texas, was tied for the lead after 36 holes at 3-under after shooting a 69 in Wednesday's second round, but fell back to sixth after a 3-over, 75 in the final round. She is a two-time Colorado Junior Match Play champion and was eighth at last year's CGA Stroke Play Championship.
 
Only five of the 32 golfers at the CGA Championship finished under par. Kelsey Webster won the event at 4-under.
 
Former Buffalo Erin (Kerr) Houtsma ran away with the Mid-Amateur Division Championship by 10 strokes over Marilyn Hardy. Houtsma, who golfed at Colorado from 2000-03, carded a 3-under, 213 for the title, highlighted by a tournament-best 69 in Thursday's third and final round.
