Champlin, McHenry and Norris To Represent U.S. at Pan Am Cup

Bruins Ethan Champlin, Merrick McHenry and J.R. Norris IV will be among fourteen U.S. men's volleyball players headed to Tepic, Mexico to compete at the NORCECA Pan American Cup Final Six on July 11-17. The Pan American Cup Final Six is a route for teams to qualify for the 2023 NORCECA Continental Championship, the 2023 Pan American Games of Santiago, Chile and the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Champlin and McHenry each played on the 2021 Men's Pan American Cup Team that captured the bronze. The U.S. will battle teams from Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and host Mexico during the competition. First up for the U.S. is a match against Canada, which features Bruin Cole Ketrzynski, on July 11 at 5 p.m. PT. On July 17, the bronze and gold medal matches will be played. Matches are being livestreamed at facebook.com/Incufid/videos.

Andy Read, who has served as head coach and assisted at Long Beach State and coached various U.S. national teams, will be head coach. The competition starts with a preliminary round robin to determine the four teams moving into the semifinals. The fifth and sixth-place teams will meet for a fifth-place match before the semifinals.
