USC Women's Rowing Hires Gabrielle Krieger, Kailani Marchak On Coaching Staff

LOS ANGELES -- USC women's rowing head coach Josh Adam has announced the addition of two new coaches. Gabrielle Krieger and Kailani Marchak will join the Trojan Family and begin to work with the team this fall.
 
Krieger arrives at Troy after spending the past year as an assistant coach at North Carolina. 
 
"I am very excited to have Gabby join our staff," said Adam. "She brings an excitement and level of dedication that is going to fit well within our program."
 
A former rower for Alabama, Krieger began her career as a freshman walk on in 2016 and finished her career leading the Crimson Tide to their first NCAA Championship appearance in 2021.  During Krieger's time at Alabama, she received the SEC Honor in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Krieger also served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee in 2018, 2019 and 2020. In 2017, 2018 and 2021, Krieger was on the Big 12 Academic first team. 
 
She earned her bachelor's degree in human performance/exercise science in 2020, and her master's degree in hospitality management with a sports concentration in 2021, both from Alabama. 
 
Kailani Marchak also joins the staff as a volunteer coach. 

"Kailani is coming to be a Trojan after a great career at Cal," said Adam. "We are looking forward to all the lessons and help she can share with the team."

Marchak brings a wealth of experience to the Trojan program. She was a member of the Cal Berkeley's Varsity Eight boat during her collegiate rowing career. During her tenure, she helped the team win the 2018 NCAA Championship. Her Varsity Eight boat also placed first at the 2019 Pac-12 Championship. 
 
On the international stage, Marchak helped the 2015 U.S. Junior National team place third at the Junior World Championships. As a co-captain of the U.S. Junior National Team, she placed third at the 2016 Junior World Championships. Marchak, who has dual-citizenship in Canada also spent in the summer of 2019 competing with the Canadian U23 National Team. Her team placed fourth at the U23 World Championship. 
 
As a member of the  Long Beach Junior Crew, she placed first at the 2016 Youth National Championships and won the 2015 Head of the Charles.
 
Marchak earned her bachelor's degree from  Cal Berkeley in sociology in 2021, and is currently pursuing a master 's in teaching at USC.
