No. 24 USC Women's Volleyball Opens 2022 Campaign as Host of Cardinal & Gold Classic

LOS ANGELES - The No. 24-ranked USC women's volleyball team (0-0) breaks the seal on the 2022 season as host of the Cardinal & Gold Classic at Galen Center this weekend (Aug. 26-27). The Women of Troy will take on Colgate at 7:30 p.m. PT on Friday (Aug. 26) and then have meetings with UMBC (10:30 a.m.) and Villanova (7:30 p.m.) on Saturday (Aug. 27).

  • USC is under the direction of third-year head coach Brad Keller who has the unique experience of having also served as an assistant coach for the USC men's volleyball team.
  • The Trojans return just six letterwinners from last year's squad. Four transfers and seven freshmen make up the lion's share of USC's 17-woman roster.
  • Sr. OH Skylar Fields was named to the Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • The Women of Troy were picked to finish fifth in the Pac-12 standings in a preseason poll of the league's coaches.
  • USC is ranked No. 24 in the AVCA Preseason Coaches Top 25 poll; the Trojans' first ranking since Sept. 23, 2019 (No. 25).
  • So. S Mia Tuaniga was named the 2021 AVCA Pacific South Region's Freshman of the Year.
  • The Trojans are 179-52 (.775) all-time at Galen Center since the arena opened in 2006.
  • USC is 37-9 all-time in season openers. The Trojans are also 37-9 in home openers, which includes a 10-5 mark in home openers at Galen Center.
