Reed Paces Women of Utah Contingent at UVU Invitational

Sep 1, 2022

OREM, Utah – On a scorching hot start to the month of September with temps upwards of 100 degrees, Maddie Reed paced the small contingent from Utah with a top-10 finish at Lakeside Park.

The Utes were represented well into the race with half of the squad at with the front group before the heat began to take its toll on the final lap.

Reed was the first Ute to cross the finish line, checking in at 19:40.5 – which was just a couple seconds shy of her PR in a 5k race despite the heat. Ellie Lundgreen, who ran in her first cross country race since competing at the 2019 NCAA Championships, clocked in at 20:16.3 for 16th-overall.

Freshman Kylie Hartnett made her collegiate debut on Thursday, recorded a mark of 20:24.1. Maren Busath rounded out the group of Utes at the meet with a time of 21:56.6.

The Women of Utah now have a few weeks to train before heading to the Midwest for the Griak Invitational held at Les Bolstad Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 23.
