Leach, Avrit Lead Ducks at Maui Jim Intercollegiate

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Greyson Leach and Owen Avrit had two of the top five tournaments in program history to lead Oregon to a seventh-place finish at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate played Sunday at Mirabel Golf Club.
 
Leach had a 3-under 67 on Sunday to finish tied for fifth overall at 12-under 198, while Avrit tied for eighth at 11-under 199. Leach's total was tied for the third-best three-round score in program history, while Avrit's was fifth.
 
As a team, the Ducks shot a 3-under 277 in the final round and finished seventh overall at 25-under 815 in a field that featured eight top-25 teams.
 
No. 13 Auburn won the tournament at 45-under, followed by No. 5 Arizona State at 40-under, No. 18 Florida State (35-under), No. 6 Georgia Tech (34-under), No. 22 Washington (31-under) and No. 12 Tennessee (28-under). Oregon was the highest finisher among teams not in the top 25 at Mirabel.
 
How It Happened: Leach had three birdies and a bogey on Sunday for his 67. The Ducks also counted a 69 from Greg Solhaug, a 70 from Nate Stember and a 71 from Avrit.

Notable: Oregon's 815 total was the second-lowest score in program history. The school record for low three-round tournament, 811, was set at the 2011 Alister MacKenzie Invitational. … In addition to recording some of the lowest scores ever at Oregon, Leach and Avrit also set personal bests for lowest composite score in relation to par.
