Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Bengal Invite

Pocatello, Idaho – The University of Utah men's tennis program concluded another weekend of play Sunday afternoon at the Idaho State Bengal Invite. The team took the win in the double match consolation draw and had a competitor up until the semifinal round of singles matches.
 
Rian Ta and Geremia Rossi won the double consolation draw after two successful matches. In the semifinal round, the duo faced Adam Taylor and Alejandro Salvador from the University of Idaho, defeating them 8-1. The final round match was against Bengals Ethan Lye and Robbertse Wikus, where the Ute duo again took the win 8-6, claiming the consolation draw.
 
In the singles consolation draw, Utah's Berk Bugarikj took the victory against Montana's Sam Baldwin in a 6-2, 7-6(7-5) match in the semifinal round. Bugarikj had a top-four finish in the singles main draw.
 
In the singles consolation draw, Dylan Applegate faced Baltazar Wiger-Nordas in the finals. Freshman Applegate would fall short, losing 6-1, 6-2.
 
The squad will head back home to prepare for the upcoming ITA Regional Championships and the second Utah Invitational tournament in the coming weeks.
