Back on the Road to Face USC, UCLA

EUGENE, Ore. – On the heels of a pair of tough five-set losses, the No. 17 Oregon volleyball team heads to Los Angeles to continue its recent road swing. The Ducks face USC on Friday night with first serve set for 8 p.m. (PT) on the Pac-12 Network live from the Galen Center. Oregon (10-4, 4-2) will then play UCLA to end the road trip Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPNU.

Last Time Out
Mimi Colyer and Brooke Nuneviller combined for 45 kills in a five-set road loss to No. 16 Washington in Seattle. The Ducks dropped the first two sets but rallied to force a fifth and saved three match points in that decisive frame before UW came away with the victory. Morgan Lewis came off the bench and put down 11 kills on a .450 hitting percentage.
 
In the Rankings
The Ducks slipped five spots to No. 17 in this week's AVCA coaches' poll. In the most release of the RPI (Oct. 10), Oregon checks in at No. 15, second among Pac-12 teams and one of eight conference teams inside the top 50. The Ducks face a top-20 RPI test in USC (17th) in Friday's weekend opener.

Oregon enters the weekend hitting .278 as a team, a figure currently ranked second in the Pac-12 and 11th in the NCAA. The Ducks are also among the top five in the league in opponent hitting percentage (.176 – third), digs per set (14.84 – fourth) and blocks per set (2.43 – fifth).
 
Individually, senior Brooke Nuneviller remains the only player in the Pac-12 among the top 10 in both kills per set (4.16 – third) and digs per set (3.44 – eighth). She is joined in the top 10 of each category, respectively, by teammates Mimi Colyer (3.71 k/s – seventh) and Georgia Murphy (3.75 d/s – fifth). At the service line, Elise Ferreira is fourth in the Pac-12 at 0.44 aces per set, and sophomore middle Kiari Robey is tied for fourth in the conference with 1.37 blocks per set.
 
Starts with a Serve
Elise Ferreira leads the Ducks with 18 service aces at the midway point of the 2022 regular season. She has at least one ace in 10 of the 13 matches she's played this season including five outings with at least two aces. Ferreira matched her season high with three service winners at then-No. 16 Washington (Oct. 9) in Seattle.
 
Series Info vs USC
Oregon is 7-3 in its last 10 meetings with USC including five in a row, all decided in five sets. The five-match winning streak is the Ducks' longest in the all-time series. Overall, USC leads the series, 53-18, dating back to 1986. The Trojans are 13-4 this season—5-1 in Pac-12 play—and are receiving votes in this week's AVCA poll.

The two teams have split their last 10 meetings with each picking up a home sweep last season. Oregon will be looking for its first road win in the series since 2018. Since the start of the 1986 season, UCLA has a 55-16 lead in the series. The Bruins (8-7, 2-4) face Oregon State to open the weekend before Sunday's match against Oregon.
