Fans can hear from Jayda and Kemery via Pac-12 Insider

BERKELEY Cal women's basketball head coach Charmin Smith and student-athletes Jayda Curry and Kemery Martín will appear at the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Basketball Media Day, taking place at the Pac-12 headquarters in San Francisco on Tuesday.

Fans can tune in through a variety of ways. A press conference featuring all head coaches and student-athletes runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. PT and will be live-streamed on Pac-12 Insider, Pac-12.com and the Pac-12 Now app. Smith, Curry and Martín will also appear on the Pac-12 Networks Live Show, which will run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. PT and a live show broadcast on ESPNU from 3--4 p.m.

Curry is coming off an impressive rookie season in which she became the first player in Pac-12 history to lead the conference in scoring as a freshman (18.6 ppg), on her way to being named the 2022 Media Freshman of the Year and earning an All-Pac-12 honorable mention and being named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team. She led all freshmen nationally last season in 3-point field goals made per game (2.2) while ranking second in scoring and free throws made (111). Curry was also added to the 2022 Dawn Staley Award Late Season watch list.

Having missed most of last season due to injury, Martín joins Cal as a redshirt sophomore transfer from the University of Utah where she totaled 52 career games with 26 starts and earned an All-Pac-12 honorable mention after the 2020-21 season. That year, she played in 21 games with 17 starts and averaged 11.1 ppg and scored in double figures in 10 of the last 12 games of the season. A highly sought-after high school prospect out of Utah, Martín was a five-star recruit (according to ESPN) and was a Deseret News Ms. Basketball award-winner.

Cal tips-off the 2022-23 season with an exhibition game against Vanguard at Haas Pavilion on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. before getting the regular season underway with a home game against Cal State Northridge on Nov. 7 at 4 p.m.
