Wildcats Close Out Isleworth Collegiate and Fall Schedule
WINDERMERE, Fla. – Arizona Men's Golf capped their trip to the Isleworth Collegiate with a 5-over round on Tuesday to finish the event in seventh place at 10-over par. Senior Chaz Aurilia ended the week as Arizona's top finisher in 20th place at 1-over par. The Wildcats have now completed their Fall schedule of four tournaments and will return to action on Monday, Jan. 30 when they host their annual Thunderbirds Arizona Intercollegiate.
"We didn't have as strong of a finishing round as we hoped today, but that doesn't discount the high-quality golf played throughout the week," said head coach Jim Anderson. "We carded some great scores in the first and second days, which we were able to develop from. We had a good Fall as a team, and I believe we will see the growth from these first four tournaments throughout the spring."
Sam Sommerhauser shot Arizona's lowest round on Tuesday at 1-under par to put the junior in a tie for 32nd at 5-over for the tournament. Freshman Zach Pollo finished the Isleworth Collegiate as Arizona's second top-30 finisher at 4-under, which gave him back-to-back finishes in the top 30 to close out the first semester of his college career.
Aurilia's week in Florida was highlighted by his 4-under round of 68 on Monday, which tied the second-lowest round of his career. He turned it on during the back nine of the round, sinking four birdies in a five-hole stretch.
