Challenging Schedule Awaits Ducks in 2023

Dec 7, 2022

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon will once again play one of the toughest schedules in the nation under fifth-year coach Melyssa Lombardi.

The Ducks will play six of the eight teams that reached the 2022 Women's College World Series – Florida, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Oregon State and UCLA – in 2023. Oregon, which played the second-toughest schedule in the nation last season, has scheduled 29 games against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago. The Ducks will also join the other eight conference teams May 10-13 for the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament in Tucson, Ariz.

"The teams that we face the first month of the season will prepare us for a loaded Pac-12 schedule," said Lombardi. "We're also looking forward to playing 17 games in front of our home crowd at The Jane. And of course, we're excited to be part of the first Pac-12 Tournament at the end of the season. It will allow softball fans across the nation to see how relentless the Pac can be."

Season tickets for the 2022 season are on sale now. Reserved seats are $175 and general admission is $125. Less than 150 seats remain available in the reserved sections that surround home plate from first to third base. The home opener is March 17 against Stanford.

The Ducks open the season in Mexico at the Puerto Vallarta Collegiate Challenge Feb. 9-12. Oregon's first game is Feb. 9 against Maryland. The Ducks will also play Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and North Dakota State in Puerto Vallarta.

"We are looking forward to opening up in Puerto Vallarta," said Lombardi. "It was such a great experience the last time we were there. This veteran team will be tested right out of the gate which is exciting."

Week two (Feb. 17-19), the team is at the Campbell/Cartier Classic in San Diego, where the Ducks will face Utah Valley, LMU, San Diego State and UC Riverside (twice). The following week, Oregon returns to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. Four of the five opponents the Duck will play at the Mary Nutter – Cal State Fullerton, Northwestern, Florida and Missouri – were in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Oregon will close out the Feb. 24-26 event with a game against Iowa State.

The March 2-4 Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif., will be the Ducks' fourth tournament of the season. Oregon will see Fresno State, Minnesota, Cal Poly, San Jose State and LMU at the Judy Garman before visiting Long Beach State for a road game on March 5.

The Ducks open Pac-12 March 10-12 at Washington and will play at Seattle on March 13.

Oregon then plays 12 straight games in the state of Oregon, beginning with Stanford March 17-19. The Ducks host UCLA March 24-26 ahead of a three-game series at Oregon State March 31-April 2. Oregon will step away from league play to host Montana on April 3 and new Division I program Lindenwood April 6-7.

The Ducks travel to Arizona State April 14-16 before hosting Portland State for a doubleheader on April 18. Arizona visits Eugene April 21-23.

Oregon's last road trip begins April 27 at Pacific and concludes with a series at California April 28-30.

The Ducks' final home games of the regular season are May 5-7 against Utah.

The inaugural Pac-12 Tournament will be held May 10-13 in Tucson, Ariz. The winner will receive the Pac-12's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins the weekend of May 20.

In addition to the six WCWS teams, the Ducks' 2023 opponents who played in the 2022 NCAA Tournament are Wisconsin, Ole Miss, LMU, San Diego State, Fullerton, Missouri, Minnesota, Arizona State, Washington and Stanford.

The Ducks return their top seven hitters and Pac-12 all-freshman pitcher Stevie Hansen from a 2022 team that advanced to the NCAA Regional final for the second consecutive season.

Start times and broadcast information for Pac-12 games will be announced later this month. Both the Puerto Vallarta Collegiate Challenge and the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic will be live streamed by FloSoftball.
