Pac-12’s “Threes for Equality” program generates $41,700 donation from Pacific Premier Bank to social justice organizations

Apr 5, 2023
The 278 three-pointers made by Pac-12 programs across the Pac-12 women’s and men’s basketball tournaments resulted in a $41,700 donation, bringing the cumulative fundraising total to over $100,000 across the program’s three years of existence

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced today that a total of $41,700 has been generated for social justice organizations through “Threes for Equality,” a philanthropic program presented by Pacific Premier Bank, the Official Bank of the Pac-12. The United Negro College Fund and National Urban League will split the total donation evenly.

Pacific Premier Bank committed to donating $150 for every 3-pointer knocked down across the Pac-12 Women’s and Men’s Basketball Tournaments, which took place in Las Vegas last March. Pac-12 programs totaled 278 triples across both championship events, resulting in the $41,700 donation.

“We are so proud to collaborate with our partner, Pacific Premier Bank, on this wonderful initiative,” said Pac-12 Networks Executive Vice President, Sales, Steve Tseng. “‘Threes for Equality’ celebrates not only the brilliant on-court performances of our student-athletes, but also the Pac-12’s continued dedication to supporting social justice organizations.”

“Threes for Equality” was established ahead of the 2021 Pac-12 Women’s and Men’s Basketball Tournaments, with Pacific Premier Bank pledging to donate $100 for every 3-pointer made across both events. A total of $59,400 was raised during the 2021 and 2022 basketball postseasons before Pacific Premier Bank increased its pledge to $150 per three-pointer for the 2023 tournaments. Over $100,000 has been raised for social justice organizations since the creation of “Threes for Equality.”

“As the Official Bank of the Pac-12, we’re honored to support the United Negro College Fund and the National Urban League with meaningful contributions, while also celebrating the accomplishments of student-athletes,” said Sherri Scott, Director of ESG and Corporate Social Responsibility. “The success of ‘Threes for Equality’ has been tremendous, and Pacific Premier is happy to continue to support this initiative.”

Pacific Premier Bank is also a co-partner for the “Touchdowns for Equality” campaign with Paycor, the Official HR Software Provider of the Pac-12. This past football season, each partner pledged to donate $100 for every touchdown scored by Pac-12 teams throughout the regular season and the 2022 Football Championship Game, generating $118,400 for the United Negro College Fund and National Urban League.
