Ducks Defeat Huskies on the Road

SEATTLE – Oregon men's tennis defeated Washington 4-2 today in Seattle, improving to 1-1 in conference play.
 
 After dropping an early-season matchup to the Huskies, Oregon was determined to avenge the loss on Saturday. Washington snuck out of Eugene with a 4-3 in January, giving the Ducks extra motivation in this conference match.
 
Oregon was fresh off a top 30 win against UCSB on Thursday and brought the momentum on the road. In doubles, Luke Vandecasteele and Ray Lo looked dominate, running away with a 6-1 victory. UW took court two, leaving the point to be decided on court one. The Ducks' No. 14 ranked doubles team of Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele were knotted at 6-6 and headed to a tiebreak. The duo would win the point in a 7-4 tiebreak for a much-needed doubles win. It is Charlton's school-record 101st doubles win.
 
Washington quickly evened things up once singles started, taking court one to even things at 1-1. Freshman Vlad Breazu continued his strong play with a 6-0, 7-5 win to tilt the match back in Oregon's favor. Jesper Klov-Nilsson also went 2-0 on the weekend, sweeping a 7-5, 6-1 win and it was 3-1 Oregon. Court three went to Washington as the Huskies got one back. With a 3-2 lead, the Ducks needed a positive result on court two or five. Lo was up in the third set when his match was abandoned thanks to a 7-6(4), 6-4 match-clinching win by Quinn Vandecasteele. He delivered an ace to close things out and celebrate with his teammates.
