2023 Pac-12 women’s lacrosse postseason awards announced

SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 announced today the 2023 Pac-12 women’s lacrosse postseason honors, including yearly award recipients and all-conference teams, as voted on by the league’s coaches. Colorado’s Charlie Rudy was selected as Attacker of the Year, while USC’s Claudia Shevitz, Emma Wightman and Kait Devir earned Midfielder, Defensive Player and Co-Goalkeeper of the Year honors, respectively. Stanford’s Annabel Frist was named the first-ever Draw Specialist of the Year, while teammate Kara Rahaim was selected Co-Goalkeeper of the Year. Arizona State’s Teagan Ng was named Freshman of the Year and USC’s Lindsey Munday was voted Coach of the Year.
 
PAC-12 ATTACKER OF THE YEAR: Charlie Rudy, 5th, A, Colorado (Novato, Calif.)
Rudy paces the Pac-12 with 61 goals and 75 points this year, becoming Colorado’s first Attacker of the Year since Miranda Stinson in 2019. Rudy scored a season-high seven goals against then-No. 20 USC’s strong defense on April 14, one of 14 hat tricks she's tallied this season. Her 189 goals and 452 shots both rank second all-time in league history.
 
PAC-12 MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR: Claudia Shevitz, Jr., M, USC (Wilmette, Ill.)
The junior started all 17 games for USC, scoring 34 goals on 49 shots on goal. Shevitz becomes the third different Trojan to win the award, with USC taking home every Midfielder of the Year honor since it’s inception in 2018. Shevitz recorded five hat tricks this season, including a trio of four-goal games.
PAC-12 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Emma Wightman, Gr., D, USC (Basking Ridge, N.J.)
The graduate transfer made an instant impact for USC, giving the Trojans consecutive Defensive Player of the Year awards following Olivia Dooley in 2022. Wightman is a three-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week winner this season, spearheading a Trojan defense that allows just 8.18 goals per game which is the fifth-best in Division I. Wightman has 36 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls, both of which rank in the top five in the Pac-12.
 
 
PAC-12 DRAW SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR: Annabel Frist, So., M, Stanford (Nashville, Tenn.)
The league-leader in draw controls with 134, Frist is the first-ever recipient of the Draw Specialist of the Year award. She ranks eighth in the country with 7.88 draw controls per game and her 188-career draw controls are sixth-most in Pac-12 history. The sophomore also scored 48 goals and dished out 16 assists this season.
 
 
PAC-12 FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR: Teagan Ng, Fr., A, Arizona State (Richmond, BC)
Ng led all Pac-12 freshmen with 27 goals in her debut campaign.The attacker started all 17 games for the Sun Devils in 2023, scoring a hat trick in her first-ever collegiate appearance in the 16-13 win over St. Bonaventure on Feb. 18. Ng also netted a season-best five goals in the win against UC Davis on April 23.
 
 
PAC-12 CO-GOALKEEPER OF THE YEAR: Kait Devir, Jr., GK, USC (Ridgewood, N.J.)
One of the most consistent goalkeepers in the country, Devir has allowed seven or fewer goals in 12 appearances and leads the league in save percentage at .464. The junior’s 7.77 goals-against average is fourth-best in the country and the top mark in Pac-12 history. Devir is coming off a Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week award after making eight saves against Arizona State on April 28.
 
 
PAC-12 CO-GOALKEEPER OF THE YEAR: Kara Rahaim, Sr., GK, Stanford (Ridgewood, N.J.)
Rahaim was the inaugural recipient of the award a season ago and followed up with another plaudit after a stellar season in goal. The senior made a league-leading 167 saves in 2023 to bring her career total to 405, third-most in Pac-12 history. Rahaim posted eight double-digit save performances this season, including three in her last four games.
 
 
COACH OF THE YEAR: Lindsey Munday, USC
This is Munday’s second Pac-12 Coach of the Year award after earning the recognition in 2019. Under Munday’s tutelage this season, the Trojans were ranked in every IWLCA weekly poll, including a season-best No. 17 heading into the Pac-12 Tournament. USC went a perfect 8-0 at home and rattled off 14 total wins. The Trojans also boast one of the best defenses in all of Division I, allowing just 8.18 goals per game and causing 10.82 turnovers per game.
