Argyrokastriti and Turkovic recognized with Academic All-America Honors

Tempe, Ariz.- The inaugural 2022-23 Academic All-America women's tennis teams were announced on Thursday and were selected by the College Sports Communicators. This honor recognizes women's tennis student-athletes for their achievements on and off the court. For the Sun Devils, junior Marianna Argyrokastriti was named to the first team and graduate student Domenika Turkovic was named to the second team.

Argyrokastriti, a Business (Business Administration) major, also was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team earlier this school year for her academic achievements and has a 4.0 GPA. In singles, Argyrokastriti went a team-best 18-4 in singles this spring. She began the season winning 16 of her first 17 matches. With her partner Chelsea Fontenel, they went 11-6 in doubles this spring. Argyrokastriti earned Second Team All-Conference honors and was ranked as high as No. 84 in singles by the ITA.

Turkovic, who is pursuing a master's degree in Sports Law and Business, also received her second academic honor of 2022-23 after being named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for her hard work off the court and has a 4.0 GPA. In postseason play this spring, Turkovic and her doubles partner Patricija Spaka advanced to the Round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championships. The duo of Turkovic and Spaka were ranked as high as No. 7 this season and competed at the NCAA Doubles Championships for the second consecutive season. In singles, Turkovic was ranked as high as No. 74 by ITA.
