OKLAHOMA CITY – It was a pitcher's duel in Sunday's opening game of the Women's College World Series that ultimately went the way of Stanford in a 1-0 decision over the Huskies.
Washington ends the season with a record of 44-15. In the 30 full seasons of Husky Softball, the program has compiled 40 or more wins in 21 of them.
Ruby Meylan got the start and tossed a gem going the distance while striking out five. The one run allowed was unearned. Meylan retired the first seven batters faced until a one-out single in the third.
Washington was unable to capitalize and three Cardinal miscues. Baylee Klingler collected the Huskies' lone hit of the day.
Washington's fifth-year senior class ends their careers with a 202-57 record and two Women's College World Series appearances.
