TEMPE, Ariz. – Kimmi Hance, Fangran Tian and Elise Wagle of the UCLA women's tennis team were named All-Americans for the 2022-23 season, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Monday.

All-America status is bestowed upon singles players who earn a top-16 seed in the NCAA Championships singles draw, advance to the third round of the year-end tournament or finish in the top 20 of the ITA Singles Rankings. Doubles teams that are seeded in the top eight of the NCAA Championships doubles tournament, reach the event's quarterfinal round or complete the season in the top 10 of the ITA Doubles Rankings are recognized.

Tian was tabbed a singles All-American, while Hance and Wagle made the cut for their efforts as a doubles tandem. Each honor is a first.

Tian checked all three qualification boxes emphatically, ending her freshman season as the NCAA singles champion. The Beijing native became just the second Bruin woman to raise the trophy, joining Keri Phebus (1995). Tian racked up 30 total singles victories against just seven losses, winning 22 of her final 24 decisions. She was 15-0 during the regular-season portion of dual-match play. En route to the title, Tian beat six top-60 opponents without dropping a set. She was 17-6 when tasked with taking down a nationally-ranked foe. Tian was a 9-16 seed in the field and found herself at a season-high No. 8 in the final ITA Singles Rankings.

Hance and Wagle teamed to post a 22-8 overall record and 15-5 mark in dual-match action. Ten of their wins came versus nationally-ranked players, including two opposite the country's No. 1 combination of Pepperdine's Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen. Hance and Wagle clinched the doubles point a team-high seven times during the campaign. They reached a season-high No. 4 in the ITA Doubles Rankings and achieved All-America and were seeded No. 5-8 after collecting the Pac-12's automatic qualifier spot in the NCAA draw.
