Acuña Named First Team CSC Academic All-American®

AUSTIN, Texas – Sun Devil Softball graduate outfielder Yanni Acuña was named to the 2023 Academic All-America® First Team selected by the College Sports Communicators, according to an announcement on Tuesday.

Acuña, who earned her undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies with a 3.66 GPA and currently maintains a 3.67 GPA as a graduate student (Communications), hit .400 while leading the team with 54 hits and 17 multi-hit games. She reached base in 44 of the 48 games and led the Pac-12 with a .523 on-base percentage.

A Third Team Academic All-America® selection in 2022, Acuña becomes the sixth player in program history to be named to one of the teams multiple times and the first since Amber Freeman in 2015. Acuña is the 10th student-athlete from ASU to be voted to the first team.

ASU has now had 15 softball student-athletes named Academic All-America® a total of 23 times. This is the second consecutive season with at least one selection.
