Week 9 Fixtures

  • The homestretch of the Pac-12 Men's Soccer regular season begins as all six sides return to Conference action and round the midpoint of league play this week.
  • With the bottom three teams in the league standings (California - 4 pts., Stanford - 3, San Diego State - 2) all on the road to the top half (Oregon State - 9 pts., UCLA - 8, Washington - 7), this week's slate could bring separation at the top, or set the stage for a jumbled and chaotic final three weeks of matches.
  • Three of this week's matches will be televised by Pac-12 Networks, while all five will be available on Pac-12.com and the Pac-12 Now app.

Week 8 Results

  • The Pac-12 stumbled in its final non-conference matches, going a combined 1-3-2 against WCC opponents last week.
  • California (5-4-3) emerged as the only victorious side, blanking Pacific on the road, 2-0.
    • It marked the Golden Bears' third road win and fifth road result this season - their most since a 2019 campaign when they earned an NCAA Tournament at-large berth.
  • Washington (5-4-4) traveled to Gonzaga and managed a 1-1 draw, as did San Diego State (6-2-4) in its city rivalry clash against San Diego.
    • The 1-1 draw with the Toreros completed an undefeated non-conference run (6-0-2) for the Aztecs, who also accomplished the feat in 2021 (also 6-0-2).
  • Stanford (6-2-3) saw its 18-match non-conference unbeaten streak (15-0-3) end, surrendering two goals inside the final 5:18 in a 2-1 loss to San Francisco.
    • The Cardinal were down usual starters Jackson Kiil and Mark Fisher in the match.
  • Oregon State's (5-4-3) leading assist producer Fran Cortijo (6a) missed his second consecutive match in the Beavers' 2-1 loss at No. 17 Portland.
  • UCLA (5-3-3) dropped a 1-0 decision despite a 12-8 shot advantage against LMU, which capped a 5-1-4 non-conference run for the Lions.

Week 8 Top Performers

  • San Diego State's Tristan Viviani talled his first goal of the season in the 1-1 draw with San Diego en route to earning Pac-12 Player of the Week honors.
  • California'a Adrian Guzman and Wisdom Onuoma scored their first goals of the season, and first of his career in the case of Onuoma, in the 2-0 win at Pacific.
    • Sophomore goalkeeper Marco Brougher made three saves in 80 minutes of action to collect his first win and first shutout for Cal.
  • Oregon State's Logan Farrington continued his torrid goal-scoring pace, tallying the Beavers' lone goal in a 2-1 loss at No. 17 Portland. Farrington leads the Pac-12 with 10 goals and 24 points on the season.
    • Farrington, who has recorded a point in four consecutive and 10 of his last 11 matches, already ranks top-10 all-time in OSU history in single-season goals (T-8th) with his 10 tallies.

RPI Update & Non-Conference Wrap

  • The Pac-12 has all six of its teams inside the top 43 of the latest NCAA RPI, a total matched only by the 12-team ACC (eight teams): No. 19 Stanford, No. 29 Washington, No. 32 Oregon State, No. 36 UCLA, No. 39 California, No. 43 San Diego State.
  • Despite the setbacks of last week, the Pac-12 continues to rate as the nation's top league in the NCAA Non-Conference RPI Ranking report and is second in the Conference RPI Ranking report behind only the ACC.
  • The six-team Pac-12 concluded non-conference play with a collective 25-12-8 record (.644), currently the second-best among NCAA Division I leagues.

Top Conferences by Non-Conference Win% (thru 10/17)
1. ACC - 51-14-17 (.726)
2. Pac-12 - 25-12-8 (.644)
3. Sun Belt - 36-17-17 (.636)
