Five Named All-Americans

STANFORD, Calif. – Led by first-team selections Kendall Kipp and Kami Miner, five Cardinal were named All-Americans, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced today.

The pair marks the fifth time in seven seasons under Kevin Hambly, the Montag Family Director of Women's Volleyball, in which the Cardinal has boasted multiple first-team picks.

Outside hitters Caitie Baird and Elia Rubin were named to the second team, while libero Elena Oglivie landed on the honorable mention list.

The selections bring Stanford's total AVCA All-America award count to 115 honors spread over 47 players. It is the third career recognition for Kipp, while Baird, Miner and Oglivie are two-time honorees. The Cardinal has produced multiple All-Americans in the same season in 18 of the past 19 seasons.

Kipp, an opposite from Newport Beach, led the team and was third in the Pac-12 with 4.11 kills and 5.03 points per set. The fifth-year was also second in the Pac-12 with 0.44 aces per set - tied for the fifth-best average in a single season in school history. The two-time Pac-12 Player of the Year registered double-digit kills in 27 of 32 matches played, including six 20-plus kill performances. Kipp hit .300 or better in 18 matches and tallied six double-doubles. Her 52 aces in 2023 are the fifth-most in a single season in program history.

A two-time Pac-12 Setter of the Year, Miner led the conference and was fourth nationally with 11.73 assists per set. The Redondo Beach native guided the Cardinal offense to a .316 hitting percentage – tops in the nation and tied for the third-best average in program history. The junior tied for the team lead with 13 double-doubles on the year.

An outside hitter from Indianapolis, Baird is a four-time All-Pac-12 honoree. She was third on the team with 3.15 kills and 3.80 points per set. Baird led the team in kills 10 times and notched double-digit kills in 19 matches. The Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 9, she hit .300 or better in 13 contests. In four NCAA Tournament matches in 2023, Baird hit .298 and was third on the team with 3.44 kills and 3.91 points per set.

Rubin, a sophomore from Santa Monica, earns her first career All-America honors. She tied for the team lead with 13 double-doubles, and was second on the team and sixth in the Pac-12 with 4.12 points per set and seventh with 3.53 kills per set. Hitting .300 or better in 17 matches, Rubin tallied double-digit kills in 22 matches and double-digit digs in 17. The outside hitter had a career-high 23 kills on .415 hitting in the Cardinal's five-set win over Houston in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She led Stanford with 4.25 kills on .336 hitting and 4.75 points per set in the postseason.

Oglivie, a native of Honolulu, led the team and was second in the Pac-12 with 4.14 digs per set. The two-time Pac-12 Libero of the Year led the team in digs in 26 matches, reaching double-digits in 30 of 33 contests. She posted 20-plus digs on six occasions and anchored the Stanford defense which held its opponents to .197 hitting. The nine-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, Oglivie is averaged 3.94 digs and 1.38 assists per set in the Cardinal's four NCAA Tournament matches in 2023.

Stanford made its 42nd NCAA Tournament appearance in 2023, reaching its 17th regional final since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1998. The Cardinal finished the year 29-4 overall and won its 24th conference championship with a 19-1 record in the Pac-12.
