FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The 2024 Pac-12 Men’s Swimming Championships are set to begin on Wednesday, March 6 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. Headlined by the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country, the Men’s Swimming Championships are sure to be highlighted by standout individual and team performances.

After taking home its first ever Pac-12 Championship and finishing runner-up at the 2023 NCAA Championships - the program's highest finish in its history - the No. 1 ARIZONA STATE Sun Devils are on a quest to repeat this week. Arizona State has spent the entirety of the 2023-24 season atop the CSCAA rankings after receiving its first No. 1 ranking just last year.

Sun Devil standout Leon Marchand, who set five Pac-12 records, five Pac-12 Championship records and three NCAA records last season, enters the week coming off an undefeated individual 2024 season. Five additional Pac-12 Champions return to the pool for Arizona State with Zalan Sarkany, Jack Dolan, Jonny Kulow, Patrick Sammon and Julian Hill all competing for back-to-back titles. Marchand, Sarkany, Hubert Kos and Ilya Kharun lead the country with their times in the 1650 free, 200 back, 400 IM, 200 fly and 200 IM, respectively, and the Sun Devils as a whole hold the top times in 11 of the conference’s 18 events. Under head coach Bob Bowman the Sun Devils have seen top-5 finishes in the Pac-12 Championship all seven years and have taken home a combined 21 Championship titles.

The two-time reigning National Champions, No. 2 CALIFORNIA, are on the hunt to reclaim a Pac-12 Championship title after their five-year win streak was broken by the Sun Devils in 2023. Three of the Bears' four 2023 Pac-12 Championship title holders (Bjorn Seelinger, Gabriel Jett and Destin Lasco), and their sole NCAA Champion (Lasco - 200 Back), will be returning to Federal Way after each collecting 920+ points this season. Competing in his senior collegiate Championship is 12-time Pac-12 Champion Bjorn Seelinger, who collected three league titles and 6 CSCAA All-American titles in the 2023 postseason alone and is the holder of the conference record in the 50 free and 100 free. This season Cal has collected top times in the conference in five different events including No. 2 times in the country in the 500 free, 100 back and 200 medley relay. The Bears collected their first podium finish after Joshua Thai took home third place in the Men’s Platform event. Cal will be competing for its 10th Championship title and sixth in the last seven years.

No. 5 STANFORD, who has seen more Pac-12 Men’s Swimming titles than any other program (33), is looking to earn its first championship win since 2017. The Cardinal are coming into the swimming portion of the meet with two diving titles, courtesy of Jack Ryan and his wins on the 1 and 3 meter springboards, and 110 total points. Four Pac-12 Champions are returning to compete for Stanford in Andrei Minakov, Ron Polonsky, Luke Maureer and Preston Frost. Minakov currently sits at No. 1 in the conference in the 100 Fly and second in the 200 fly while holding second and third place times in the events nationally. Five additional Cardinal members find themselves with top-5 times in the conference.

No. 17 USC spent its first 20 years dominating the conference in Men’s Swimming and Diving but after the Trojans' 17th win in 1979, that came to an end until 2015 when they won their first Championship in 36 years. This season, USC is on the hunt to put its name back in the winners circle with a 19th title. The Trojans enter the Championship fourth in the Pac-12 with powerhouses Chmielewski KrzysztofChris O’Grady and Ben Dillard leading the way with the trio each averaging 900 points collected during the season.

No. 23 ARIZONA enters the Championship as the final ranked program and in search of its first Pac-12 title. With two conference wins, including a 10-point victory over a ranked USC team, the Wildcats enter the competition with Ralph DaleidenRyan Purdy and Ryan Foote leading their squad.
