Payne, Buffs Add Iowa State Transfer

BOULDER — Colorado head coach JR Payne announced the addition of Iowa State transfer Nyamer Diew for the 2024-25 season on Thursday.
 
Diew will join the Buffaloes as a graduate transfer and have one year of eligibility remaining.
 
"We are very excited to have Nyamer joining our Buff Family today!" head coach JR Payne exclaimed. "Coming to CU with a tremendous amount of Big 12 experience and success will be huge for us. Ny will bring great length, athleticism and leadership, which will be a wonderful asset to our program and community." 
 
The 6-2 forward spent the last three seasons at ISU, where she averaged 5.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 91 career games.
 
Diew started a career-high 19 games and played in 30 games last season for the Cyclones. She averaged 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 23.2 minutes and helped Iowa State reach the Big 12 Tournament championship game and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Marshall, Minn., native averaged career highs of 6.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in the 2022-23 season. She scored a career-high 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting against Baylor that season. Diew has two career 20-point games, including 20 against Troy on Dec. 17 of this season.
 
Diew started her collegiate career at Butler in 2020-21. She made 10 starts and played in 16 games for the Bulldogs, averaging 5.3 points and 2.9 rebounds.
 
She has played in 107 career games, averaging 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds. She owns a 37.7 career field goal percentage and is 32.8% from behind the arc, while hitting 74.3% from the free-throw line.
 
Iowa State advanced to the NCAA Tournament all three seasons with Diew, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2022. 
 
Internationally, Diew was a member of the first South Sudan Women's Basketball National Team, playing at the 2021 FIBA Women's AfroBasket Qualifiers.
 
She graduated from Sioux City East High School in Sioux City, Iowa. Diew averaged 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 2.0 steals per game in high school. She helped the Raiders win two conference championships.
