May Strikes Out 14, Beavers Open Rivalry Series With 2-0 Win

Apr 26, 2024

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Aiden May struck out a career-high 14 and held No. 22 Oregon to an infield single in eight innings to send the ninth-ranked Beavers to a 2-0 win over the Ducks in front of a season-high 3,943 fans at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field Friday night.

May struck out at least one batter in every inning, and three in the eighth, his final inning of work. His lone blemish on the line score was a fifth-inning infield single by Drew Smith.

The righty, who earned his third win of the season, was backed by a pair of solo home runs by Brady Kasper and Travis Bazzana. Kasper began the Beavers' (32-9 overall, 11-7 Pac-12 Conference) scoring with a home run to right in the third, then watched as Bazzana launched his 20th of the season over the fence in left in the third inning.

Both home runs came off Oregon (28-13, 11-8) starter RJ Gordon, who struck out nine but was charged with the loss after giving up four hits. He dropped to 5-4 on the year.

Gavin Turley doubled twice for the Beavers, who recorded four extra-base hits on the night. Dallas Macias also singled in the third inning.

Bridger Holmes threw a scoreless ninth for his ninth save of the season.
