Comeback Falls Short in Pac-12 Tournament Championship

OJAI, Calif. – A tight battle in the championship of the Pac-12 Tournament, No. 20 Stanford men's tennis came up short to No. 11 Arizona, 4-0, at Libbey Park.

The Wildcats claimed the doubles point after a marathon tiebreaker on court one. Nishesh Basavareddy and Samir Banerjee opened doubles play with a win on court two, 6-2, but Arizona pulled a match back on court three. Both teams saw match points for doubles on court one, but the Wildcats pulled it out, 10-8.

The Cardinal won four first sets, but was unable to get a singles match across the line. Tiebreakers fell Arizona's way on courts one and five to head to third sets, while the Wildcats earned wins on courts two, three and six to close out the match.

Stanford closes the regular season at 17-6 overall after going 7-1 in the Pac-12's regular season and sharing the conference championship. The Cardinal's NCAA Tournament status will be revealed in the tournament selection show on Monday, April 29 at 3 p.m. on NCAA.com.
