Utah Lacrosse Wins Share Of ASUN Regular Season Title With 25-8 Win Over Queens

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah Lacrosse team finished out the regular season with a home win over Queens University of Charlotte, beating the Royals 25-8. With the win, Utah claimed a share of the ASUN Regular Season Title, finishing with an 8-1 conference record.

Utah won the regular season title outright in 2022 and 2023 with the Utes now earning its third regular season crown. Utah also claimed its 10th win of the season (10-4), the third straight season to reach the feat.

The Utes finished the game with 57 shots that included 44 on goal, also winning the ground ball battle at 44-26. Utah only committed 11 turnovers in the game while forcing 15 of Queens' 24.

Utah has held its opponents to under 10 goals in seven games this season, including in the last five. 

GAME LEADERS
It was senior night at Ute field against the Royals with senior Jordan Hyde leading the Utes with a season-high six goals. Sophomore Ryan Stines followed with three with senior Tyler Bradbury, sophomore Zachary White and redshirt freshmen Brady Grandstaff and Jake Likes all adding two goals each.

Sophomore Nikko DiPonio racked up a team-high seven ground balls, adding a caused turnover with senior Josh Rose also contributing six ground balls and a goal. Senior Joey Boylston once again tied his career-high in caused turnovers with a team-best three caused turnovers while Bryce Horton added two as well.

On faceoffs, the trio of Tyler Kloeckl, Spencer Krueger and Bryce Madden won 21 faceoffs with Kloeckl leading the way, going 9-of-18. In goal, four different players finished with saves, led by senior Connor Hollison, who posted seven.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Utah's 39 points (25 goals, 14 assists) set a new school record for single-game points, passing the 38 set against Robert Morris in 2023.
  • The Utes' 25 goals ranks second all-time in program history.
  • Utah has had 15-or-more CTOs in back-to-back games with its 15 tonight tying third all-time with its 15 against Robert Morris this season.
  • With his one caused turnover tonight, Nikko DiPonio has tied the single-season record for CTOs (28) with Samuel Cambere (28 in 2022).  
  • Ryan Stines has 40 goals through 14 games this season with his three tonight, tying him for third all-time in single-season goals. The school record is 49 (Jordan Hyde, 2023).

UP NEXT
After winning a share of the ASUN regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the ASUN Championship, the Utes will await their opponent for the semifinal game on Friday, May 3. The ASUN Championship is hosted by Air Force in Falcon Stadium.
