Cats Win Final Regular Season Game, 3-2, Over GCU

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 18 Arizona beat Grand Canyon, 3-2, on Tuesday night to wrap up the Wildcats' regular season schedule.
 
Dakota Kennedy went 4-for-4 with two home runs to lead the team. Regan Shockey tallied two hits for the Cats.
 
Arizona scored two runs in the first to take an early 2-0 lead over GCU. Kennedy led off the game with a solo home run and Blaise Biringer drove in the second run with a bases-loaded groundout.
 
The Lopes scored one in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly and hit a solo home run in the fourth to tie the game.
 
Kennedy responded with a solo home run – her second of the game and 10th of the season – to give Arizona a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
 
The Wildcats held the Lopes scoreless the rest of the game and Aissa Silva picked up her 21st win of the season to improve to 21-4. Silva secured the win for Arizona after striking out three-straight batters with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh. She went 5.0 innings, striking out seven and allowing only one run on four hits.
 
Miranda Stoddard started the game and went 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. Brooke Mannon entered in relief in the third and faced three batters before Silva entered the circle.
 
Up Next
Arizona will head to the Pac-12 Softball Tournament beginning May 9 hosted by Stanford. Seeding for the tournament will be released following the conclusion of the final weekend of conference play.
