Andrej Stojakovic To Play For Golden Bears

May 2, 2024
Andrej Stojakovic averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game as a freshman at Stanford last year.

BERKELEY – Andrej Stojakovic, a former McDonald's All-American, has signed to play for the California men's basketball program, head coach Mark Madsen announced Thursday. Stojakovic, who spent his freshman year at Stanford, will join the Golden Bears for the upcoming 2024-25 season and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Stojakovic, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound guard, was a five-star recruit out of Jesuit High School in Carmichael and went on to average 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game across 32 contests in his first collegiate season in 2023-24.

"Andrej is a tremendous basketball player whose ceiling is limitless," Madsen said. "He is one of the most fluid and natural basketball players I have seen. Andrej's shot-making prowess and ability to attack the rim will put constant pressure on defenses.  He is a phenomenal rebounder who will mix it up in the paint. Andrej is a dynamic playmaker and a great teammate. Our Cal Family is going to love seeing Andrej play in Blue and Gold."

Stojakovic made 10 starts across his 32 games played with the Cardinal and scored in double figures nine times, including a career-best 20 points against USC and 18 in back-to-back games against Santa Clara and Eastern Washington. He ranked sixth in scoring among the Pac-12 Conference's true freshmen and knocked down 34 3-pointers, the 10th most by a freshman in Stanford history. The guard grabbed a personal-best eight rebounds against Utah and Cal.

Stojakovic was additionally a Jersey Mike's Naismith All-American and Nike Hoop Summit participant with the World Team during his prep career. He was the third-ranked player in the state of California and the fourth-ranked small forward in the country coming out of Carmichael.

Stojakovic, born in Thessaloniki, Greece, is the son of Peja Stojakovic, who had a 13-year NBA career that included three All-Star nods with the Sacramento Kings and an NBA title with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.
