May 4, 2024

STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 6 Cardinal came from behind for a second-straight game to beat No. 25 Oregon. The win puts Stanford at 42-11 on the season and 17-6 in Pac-12 play. The 17 conference wins are tied for the most in a season in program history, joining the 1998 team that played 28 conference games.

Oregon took an early lead for the second-straight game, with a solo home run in the top of the first inning to go up 1-0.

Stanford was able to answer back in the bottom of the second, with sophomore Taryn Kern singling to drive in two runners.

Senior pitcher Regan Krause entered in relief in the second inning, tossing 2.2 hitless innings of relief. Krause picked up the win with just one walk issued and one strikeout. Krause moves to 20-4 on the season.

Krause handed the ball off to sophomore NiJaree Canady to start the fifth inning, and Canady shut down the Ducks from there. The sophomore finished with three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five.

The Cardinal added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, after senior Caelan Koch crushed a ball to center for her sixth home run of the season. The solo shot made it a 3-1 lead heading into the seventh.

In addition to her two-run single, Kern moved into the Cardinal record books with her 47th walk of the season. The total puts her into a tie for the most in a season in program history, joining Maddy Coon's total from 2008.

Stanford and the Ducks close out the regular season tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. PT from Smith Family Stadium. Tickets are still available at tickets.gostanford.com, and the game will be streamed on Pac-12 Networks.
