Colorado Adds Texas Tech Transfer

May 6, 2024

BOULDER — Head coach JR Payne continued to build for the future on Monday by adding Texas Tech transfer JoJo Nworie.

Nworie spent two seasons at Texas Tech but did not play for the Lady Raiders due to consecutive season-ending injuries.

Before arriving in Lubbock, Nworie was a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honorable mention at the College of Southern Idaho. She joined Texas Tech as one of the top junior college recruits in the 2022 class.

"We are absolutely thrilled to announce the signing of JoJo to our Buff Family," Payne expressed. "I know that she will be an incredible addition to our squad. JoJo brings a tremendous amount of length, athleticism and energy to our roster and will definitely be a fun Buff to watch for the next several years. I can't wait to have her in Boulder!"

The 6-5 center averaged 12.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks her last season at Southern Idaho while leading the Golden Eagles to a 30-3 record. Nworie shot 49.7% (163-328) in the 2021-22 season and totaled 417 points in 33 games. She had nine double-doubles and recorded 20-plus points in five games. Nworie snagged a school-record 24 rebounds in CSI's win at Southern Nevada.

Her 63 blocks in the 2021-22 season stand eighth in the CSI career record books.

Nworie will have three years of eligibility with the Buffs.

A native of Lagos, Nigeria, Nworie joins the largest contingent of international players in program history. She will be the seventh international player on the 2024-25 roster, joining Frida Formann (Denmark), Sara-Rose Smith (Australia), Tabitha Betson (Australia), Lior Garzon (Israel), Lova Lagerlid (Sweden), and Erin Powell (UK).
