Cats' Season Concludes at NCAA Las Vegas Regional

LAS VEGAS – The 2023-24 season came to an end for No. 16 Arizona Women's Golf on Wednesday at NCAA Regionals as the Wildcats missed advancing to the NCAA Championships by two strokes. Freshman Charlotte Back's impressive postseason run continued in Las Vegas, finishing tied for eighth at even par. Back became the second Arizona freshman in as many years to post a top-10 finish at NCAA Regionals after teammate Julia Misemer finished runner-up at the NCAA Raleigh Regional a year ago.

"It's always tough to have your season come to an end earlier than you want it to, but I am incredibly proud of these young women," said head coach Laura Ianello. "This team was resilient, determined and battled until the very end. Today also marks the end of a very special career for Gile whose journey as a member of our program has been inspirational and empowering. For five seasons, she has been everything you could ask for in a student-athlete and ambassador to the University of Arizona."

The Wildcats' lowest round in Wednesday's finale came from junior Carolina Melgrati who shot a 1-over round of 73, including two birdies in her final three holes. Back and sophomore Nena Wongthanavimok both carded 3-over rounds in the final round.

Arizona ended the week in sixth place at 16-over par after posting the third lowest team score of the day. Back was one of three Cats to finish the week in the top 25 of the player leaderboards. Wongthanavimok finished tied for 20th at 5-over par with Melgrati finishing one stroke behind her in a tied for 25th.
