Aly Tetzloff Joins Utah Swim & Dive Coaching Staff

May 10, 2024

SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah swimming and diving head coach Jonas Persson announced the newest addition to his staff on Friday in the person of Aly Tetzloff, who comes to Utah after two seasons coaching at Florida Gulf Coast University.

"From the first phone call with Aly," said Persson, "I was very impressed and when me and my staff spent time with her on campus, it confirmed she was the right person for the job. She's got a tremendous background as a swimmer, being able to compete at the highest level and having worked with some great coaches along the way. She's done a very nice job working with Coach Rollins, whom I highly respect, the last two years at Florida Golf Coast University.

"Aly is the right fit for our program and I can't wait to get started. We had some great candidates for the job, which I'm very grateful for, and I'm so happy for our staff and team members that we got our No. 1 choice."

"I am so thankful for Jonas and the Utah staff for giving me this opportunity to join the Ute Family," said Tetzloff. "From the moment I flew into Salt Lake City, I was in awe of the surrounding natural beauty and blown away by the athletic facilities on campus. I can't wait to get to know the team and help cultivate a positive student-athlete environment. Go Utes!"

Tetzloff recently finished her second season at FGCU, where she helped the Eagles post a perfect 5-0 record in conference, then put together a performance at the ASUN Championships that saw them collect nine total medals. Tetzloff's pupils reached the podium in every relay and one Eagle swimmer took gold in the 200 free and finished the competition with seven total medals, while the team took third.

Tetzloff joined the staff at FGCU after a phenomenal career in the pool for the Auburn, achieving All-American status 14 times for the Tigers in a variety of disciplines, including the 50 free, 100 free, 100 fly, 100 back, and all three free relays. She was named All-SEC in 2017 and 2018 and was a three-time SEC Champion, winning the 100 back as a senior in 2019, as well as the 400 free relay in back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019.

Tetzloff has plenty of experience on the national level as well, having competed at both the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Trials, where she finished eighth in the 100 fly, as well as the Phillips 66 National Championships and the Toyota US Open. She has also competed professionally on the TYR Pro Swim Series, as well as the International Swim League each of the past three seasons for the Tokyo Frog Kings in 2021 and the LA Current in 2020 and 2019.

A native of Crown Point, Indiana, Tetzloff graduated from Auburn in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Sports Coaching minor.
