Arizona Falls to UCLA in Pac-12 Semifinal

STANFORD, Calif. – Arizona fell to UCLA, 6-5, in the semifinal of the Pac-12 Tournament on Friday. The Wildcats recorded seven hits – including two home runs – against the Bruins.
 
Olivia DiNardo and Carlie Scupin each went 2-for-3 with a home run for the Cats. Scupin hit a three-run blast and DiNardo had a solo homer.
 
After two scoreless innings from both teams, Arizona scored four in the third to take the first lead of the game. Scupin put the Cats on the board with a three-run home run – her 12th of the season. Blaise Biringer hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Allie Skaggs for the fourth run of the inning.  
 
The Bruins took the lead in the fifth inning after scoring six runs. A pair of singles, a two-run home run, and a bases-loaded walk gave UCLA a 6-4 lead.
 
In the sixth, DiNardo led off the inning with a home run – her 13th of the year – to bring the Cats within one run but it wasn't enough for Arizona.
 
In the circle, Brooke Mannon pitched the first 2.0 innings, holding the Bruins scoreless on just two hits. Aissa Silva relieved Mannon to start the third inning. She went 2.2 innings, giving up five runs on five hits. Miranda Stoddard entered in the fifth and faced three batters and walked in a run before Mannon reentered. She finished the game with 3.1 total innings and Silva picked up the loss to fall to 21-5.
