#19 Utah Lacrosse Falls 19-7 vs. #2 Duke In NCAA First Round

DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 19 University of Utah Lacrosse team fell to the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils today in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championships, 19-7.

Utah finished its season 12-5 overall with its second-straight NCAA Championships appearance after back-to-back ASUN Championships and three consecutive regular season ASUN titles.

Through 17 games this season, Utah broke 18 individual and team single-game and single-season records. The Utes set program records in team single-season assists (147) and caused turnovers (169), also tying the Utah record for single-season wins (12).

GAME LEADERS
Against the Blue Devils, seniors Tyler Bradbury and Jordan Hyde led the Utes in scoring with two goals each with Bradbury also turning in two ground balls. Senior Jared Andreala, junior Cody Hart and sophomore Ryan Stines all added one goal apiece with Stines also adding two assists for three points.

On defense, Utah was led in caused turnovers by sophomore Nikko DiPonio, who also had three ground balls, followed by senior Joey Boylston's two caused turnovers. Sophomore Tyler Kloeckl also had a team-high four ground balls, winning nine faceoffs as well.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • In just six years as a Division I program, Utah is 46-34 (.575) all-time with 34 of the wins coming in the past three seasons.
  • Including today's eight caused turnovers, Utah had eight-or-more in 14 of Utah's 17 games this season.
  • Tyler Bradbury finished his career at Utah on a 50-game scoring streak where he had at least one point, also scoring in 57 of his 63 total games.
  • Nikko DiPonio secured the Utah single-season caused turnover record with his three today, giving him 35 in 2024.
  • Ryan Stines scored his 48th goal of 2024 today against Duke, giving him 86 total in just 34 career games.
  • With his two goals today, Jordan Hyde notched his third straight season with 40+ goals with 40 in 2022, 49 in 2023 and 41 in 2024.
  • Utah's group of 12 seniors combined for a total of 41 wins, three regular season ASUN titles, two ASUN tournament titles and two NCAA Championships appearances.
