No. 10 Huskies In The Mix After Opening Day Of NCAA Regionals

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – After firing a 10-over par 290 on the opening day of the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional at The Farms Golf Club, No. 10 Washington is five shots back of a qualifying spot.
 
The top-five teams after Wednesday's final round will advance to the NCAA Championships.
 
Washington remains in striking distance thanks in large part to an excellent day out of senior Teddy Lin, who fired in three birdies and worked around two bogeys for a one-under 69. Lin pared the final six holes of the round to sit two shots back of the lead, tied for sixth.
 
"Bit of a struggle for us today," head coach Alan Murray said. "It was a great round by Teddy and he scrambled well."
 
While Lin was the only Husky to finish at or under par, Taehoon Song and Finn Koelle battled through and up-and-down round to finish three-over. Aside from a single hole, Petr Hruby was solid throughout the day. However, an 11 on three sunk the senior's round as he matched Bo Peng at five-over, though only one score counted against UW's total.
 
"The other guys battled well and we just made a few loose mistakes and dropped some careless shots here and there but there is a long way to go," Murray said.
 
Washington will tee off the second round at 8:55 p.m. PT on Tuesday, starting with Peng.

"We will do a little practice this afternoon and tidy a few things up and be ready to go tomorrow morning," Murray concluded.
